Director

Imran Khan



 






Imran Khan joined CaSE as Director in May 2010. He oversees all aspects of CaSE's work.

Imran studied Biology at the University of Oxford, specialising in disease and animal behaviour. He also has a Masters degree in Science Communication from Imperial College. Before becoming Director, he worked on science policy in Westminster as a Senior Parliamentary Researcher for Dr Evan Harris, and has spent time as a freelance science communicator in London and Geneva, working with organisations such as the World Health Organisation, the British Medical Journal, New Scientist, and the Research Defence Society (now Understanding Animal Research).

Assistant Director

Dr Hilary Leevers

 

 

Hilary Leevers joined CaSE in February 2007. She is familiar with all of CaSE's activities, having worked for a period as Acting Director, and now focuses on project work including policy reports (Impacts of the Research Base, International Excellence, Secondary Science Education and Delivering Diversity).

 

Hilary studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, and has a PhD in Developmental Psychology from Oxford University. She then ran a variety of research projects at the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience at Rutgers University, Newark, USA, before returning to England in 2001 to work as a Research Consultant.

Membership Liaison

David Hawksett

 

 

 

 

David Hawksett joined CaSE in September 2007. David is responsible for managing CaSE's relationship with current and prospective organisational members.

 

Dave has a background in astrophysics and planetary sciences and was one of the founders of the UK Planetary Forum. He works for CaSE on Thursdays and Fridays. The rest of his week he splits between being the science and technology editor at Guinness World Records, and a freelance science writer, editor, and consultant. He has worked for BBC Science and has written for various organisations including The Times, National Geographic and Lucasfilm. He has also worked in education as a consultant, lecturer and software developer.

Administrator

 

Nick Hall

 

 

Nick Hall started as Research and Administrative Assistant in June 2008. Nick provides research support for our policy and media activities as well as managing our contacts database.

 

Prior to joining CaSE Nick worked in the House of Commons as a parliamentary assistant. He studied History at the Warwick University, before taking a Masters in Politics, Security and Integration at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL.
