Science, Engineering and the Immigration Cap

02 Dec 2010

A report on the proposed cap on non‐EU economic migrants and its consequences for UK science and engineering.

The proposed cap on non‐EU economic migrants could have devastating consequences for UK science and engineering. It could damage our academic and research excellence, as well as our international competitiveness. It is therefore vital that any cap allows scientists and engineers to enter the UK.

CaSE continues to reject the idea of imposing limits on the number of talented scientists and engineers who can enter the UK. It seems that the Government has yet to accept the notion that the UK needs international talent more than international talent needs the UK.
