The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) has made pioneering discoveries in the field of cancer research, including the discovery that DNA damage is the fundamental cause of cancer and the development of some of the first chemotherapy drugs – it remains an academic world leader in the discovery of new targeted cancer drugs. As an academic institution and a member institution of the University of London, it also provides world-leading teaching to the next generation of cancer researchers.
