CaSE is seeking to appoint an outstanding Executive Director who will lead the institution through its next phase of development, building on the robust and highly successful platform created by the current incumbent.

The new Executive Director will be expected to build on the ‘Discovery Decade’ work, using the comprehensive dataset collected to develop a nuanced and comprehensive understanding of attitudes and approaches to science and engineering. They will play a key role in embedding science and engineering more deeply in public discourse, bringing industry and the public sector closer together, and continuing to build funding and philanthropic giving from diverse sources.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic, experienced leader, with extensive knowledge of, and deep personal interest in, the areas of science and engineering. This may come from relevant career experience gained in industry, academia, the Civil Service, charities, think tanks or similar. The new Executive Director will need to build strong rapport with a wide range of internal and external audiences, including colleagues, academics, industry leaders, government, and Executive Chairs of Research Councils. They must also be a compelling advocate in public forums and with the media, possessed of an excellent, analytical mind, and be able to follow the evidence in a demonstrably robust and impartial manner. Experience of working with donors / sponsors / members, and the ability to work across the private and public sectors, will be beneficial.

CaSE’s board of trustees have engaged the respected executive search firm Odgers Berndtson to manage the search for the next Executive Director.

Odgers Berndtson will meet strong candidates from w/c 30 October onwards. The final assessment process, which is likely to consist of stakeholder meetings and a panel interview at the CaSE offices, is expected to take place in early December 2023.
