This briefing covers key findings on healthcare from CaSE’s Discovery Decade 2022-23 public attitudes study, which comprised four nationally-representative surveys polling a total of 18,000 people, and 14 focus groups. It includes statistics and the opinions of focus group participants, and identifies four key points:
- People are concerned about healthcare and see R&D as a solution
- Relating R&D to healthcare drives up support – but the desire for urgent action to improve healthcare and the NHS poses a risk for R&D advocacy
- The coronavirus vaccine is not a straightforward positive for the sector
