CaSE is pleased to invite our members and stakeholders across the whole of the UK, to hear the results of our new study: Public Attitudes to R&D in Scotland and Wales 2026.
This online session, from 15:00-16:00 on Monday 30th March will give members of the R&D community the opportunity to hear the results of our latest large-scale public opinion survey and discuss how they can use this to support their advocacy and engagement.
CaSE is using the opportunity offered by the upcoming elections in Scotland and Wales to raise the profile of R&D and forge stronger connections with politicians in Holyrood and the Senedd.
With the support of our project sponsors, CaSE conducted new polling in January 2026, exploring how people in Scotland and Wales think and feel about R&D in the run up to the May elections. These surveys of 2,707 and 1,626 adults in Scotland and Wales, respectively, provide insights into public attitudes in the nations at an unprecedented depth.
The surveys cover topics such as awareness of R&D and its benefits, attitudes to R&D investment by devolved governments, and to universities and research organisations in Scotland and Wales. To bolster our sector’s advocacy, we have also commissioned constituency-level insights into support for local action on R&D by elected representatives.
These elections come amid a shifting political landscape; there is an urgent need to proactively engage all new parliamentarians and positively influence their attitudes towards Scotland and Wales’s R&D sectors.
At the webinar, attendees will hear a summary of the results and have chance to discuss the findings and their implications for R&D advocacy in Scotland and Wales with the CaSE team and other stakeholders from across the R&D sector.
