R&D and the Government’s Missions – Member Webinar

R&D and innovation are central to the delivery of the Government’s five national missions and will be crucial components in developing the UK’s growth-driving sectors, which were set out in the Government’s Industrial Strategy Green Paper.

With the full Industrial Strategy now published, CaSE and Elsevier are co-hosting a webinar on 7 July at 10:00am to discuss the latest evidence underpinning R&D’s vital role in delivering on the Government’s priorities and actions that policymakers and the sector can take to emphasis this. We will share insights from our work that will help you engage with the Industrial Strategy.

CaSE will be presenting findings from our recent report, Mission Critical R&D, which draws on evidence from the breadth and expertise of our membership across the UK, as well as our public opinion research exploring attitudes to R&D and the Government’s missions.

We will be joined by Sarah Main, Vice President, Academic and Government Relations, UK at Elsevier. Sarah will be presenting Elsevier’s new nationwide analysis that sheds light on the UK’s research and innovation capability to support the Government’s five missions. This understanding will help the Government leverage and build on those capabilities and enable university and research leaders to deliver and demonstrate their contribution to national goals.

A new nationwide analysis by Elsevier sheds light on the UK’s research and innovation capability to support the Government’s five missions. This understanding of research strengths related to the missions helps Government leverage and build on those capabilities to deliver the missions; and enables university and research leaders to deliver and demonstrate their contribution to national goals.

CaSE

CaSE’s recent report, Mission Critical R&D, draws on evidence from the breadth and expertise of our membership across the UK, as well as public opinion research exploring attitudes to R&D and the Government’s missions. CaSE sets out the integral role of R&D in driving progress on the missions, proposes a series of measures that the UK Government should take to support the R&D sector to deliver this role, and highlights actions that the R&D sector itself should take to better communicate to policymakers and the public the value of R&D to the missions.
