12 Jun 2024

We are delighted to invite you to a science, innovation and technology hustings ahead of the General Election hosted by the four National Academies – the Academy of Medical Sciences, the British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society – the Campaign for Science and Engineering and the Foundation for Science and Technology.

This will be an opportunity to hear from Viscount Camrose (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology), Chi Onwurah (Shadow Minister for Science, Research & Innovation), and Lord Clement-Jones (Liberal Democrat’s Lords Spokesperson for Science, Innovation and Technology), and network with scientists, researchers, journalists, and senior industry figures from across the sector.

The event will be held at the Royal Society (6-9 Carlton House Terrace, SW1Y 5AG) on Wednesday, 19 June from 6.30pm-8pm (registration from 6pm) and will be chaired by Anjana Ahuja, science writer and commentator. The discussion will also be live streamed online for a public audience.

Each panellist will be invited to outline the policies that their party will be putting forward to support science, innovation and technology at the forthcoming General Election. There will then be a Q&A, including questions from the chair and the audience. The event will be followed by a reception (8-9pm).

Please register to attend this event in person via Eventbrite. Also, please note due to the room capacity limit, in-person spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. We look forward to seeing you at the hustings.
