CaSE welcomes the Royal Society of Edinburgh as new members

The Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s National Academy, was established in 1783 and encompasses a wide range of disciplines – science & technology, arts, humanities, social science, business and public service. This breadth of expertise makes the RSE unique in the UK.

The President of The Royal Society of Edinburgh, Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, commented,

“The RSE welcomes the work that CaSE does in raising the profile of science and technology in Westminster and Whitehall. We have worked closely with CaSE on many issues over the years from a shared perspective that scientific advancement can bring many benefits to society and help to address many of the great challenges of our time including: energy; climate change; and food security. We also share a common interest in promoting “curiosity driven” research. I am pleased that the RSE is now becoming a member of CaSE and look forward to working even more closely on raising the profile of science.”

“I am excited to welcome Scotland’s national academy, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, to CaSE. CaSE is honoured to work with Scotland’s national academy, an organisation that shares our drive to deliver robust, reasoned evidence to policy-makers and Parliament. We are looking forward to learning from their insights and experience of policy-making in Scotland and we hope that our experience of representing science in Westminster will complement theirs to the benefit us both.”
