With approximately 500 staff in the UK, Facebook relies on a skilled workforce of software engineers, mathematicians and data scientists to drive its business.
Acting Director Naomi Weir says:
“We are delighted to welcome Facebook, as new members of CaSE. They are significant employers of scientists and engineers in the UK and represent the rapidly expanding world of social media which relies upon skilled computer and data scientists.
Scientific discovery can quickly create new and developing technologies and as a result we are provided with a wealth of data and evidence that can be utilised for great public benefit. We look forward to working with Facebook to ensure that Government makes best use of the available data and evidence in policy making.”
CaSE are keen to ensure the needs of the whole science and engineering community are being heard at the highest levels of government.
