The Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE) is thrilled to welcome UCB into its membership. A global biopharma company, UCB are a major inward investor in the UK life sciences sector. We look forward to working with them and drawing on their expertise at a time when CaSE is focussed on the needs of business R&D in the UK.

Commenting on the announcement:

“CaSE is very proud to represent the breadth of the UK research and development landscape. Businesses carry out a majority of the R&D done in the UK, and I am delighted that UCB see the value in joining with us and our other members to create a strong voice advocating for the whole R&D sector, through this important election year and beyond. I look forward to working with them.”

Dr Daniel Rathbone
Interim Executive Director, CaSE

“UCB is delighted to be joining the Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE). We believe that only by working in collaboration can we turn promising science into valuable health solutions, this is why our scientists work with researchers from academia, the NHS, medical charities and industry to advance our thinking. We look forward to collaborating with CaSE and its members to do this even more in the future.”

About CaSE

The Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE) works to put science and engineering at the heart of the UK’s future. The UK’s leading advocacy group for science and engineering, our membership spans 114 scientific organisations, including businesses, universities, learned societies and charities, as well as individual scientists and engineers. Collectively our members employ over 336,000 people in the UK, and our industry and charity members invest around £32.2bn a year globally in R&D.

We collaborate with our members, partners and the public to lend our clear, expert voice to decisions about science and engineering. We specialise in developing non-partisan, responsive solutions that help research and innovation to thrive in ways that improve people’s lives and livelihoods.

CaSE’s work is governed by 5 main priorities:

  • We want science and engineering to serve the needs and aspirations of both the public and those working within the community
  • We want science and engineering to secure the resources it needs and deploy this investment for everyone’s benefit
  • We want science and engineering to have its voice heard in public discourse, ensuring that political ambitions for the sector are matched by effective policy-making
  • We want science and engineering to be a community that continuously seeks new ways to collaborate towards a shared strategic vision
  • We want science and engineering to thrive across all parts of the UK and benefit from diverse local strengths
